The SR50A is Campbell Scientific's new generation acoustic distance sensor that measures the elapsed time between emission and return of an ultrasonic pulse. This measurement can be used to determine snow or water depth. An air temperature measurement is required to correct for variations of the speed of sound in air.

MicroStep-MIS SD-8 Ultrasonic Distance Sensor is designed for distance measurement. Its primary application in meteorology is Snow Height Measurement.
The microprocessor controlled probe measures distance from the solid obstacle and provides either the measured distance, or the difference of the pre-set constant and the measured distance as an output (for example in case of snow or water height measurement). On demand, sensor can be equipped with additional heating for icing elimination.
