In the Defense and Civil Systems division
Jenoptik combines electrics/electronics and mechatronics with laser
sensor systems, optics and optoelectronics within complex components,
systems and facilities. It focuses on the areas of ground-based
observation platforms for intelligence gathering und reconnaissance as
well as military and civil vehicle and aircraft equipment: generation
and supply of electrical energy, stabilization technology for weapons
and optoelectronic sensors, radomes for military aircrafts well as
composite structure elements for civil aircrafts, and additionally,
mechatronic components and subsystems. In the laser and infrared sensor
systems area the focus is on the development, manufacturing and
marketing of laser distance measurement equipment and infrared camera
systems for different applications.
The CHM 15k laser ceilometer of Jenoptik measures simultaneously cloud
base height, boundary layer height and vertical visibility. With an
operating range of up to 15 kilometers it is the first commercial LIDAR
instrument able to reliably and routinely detect multi-cloud layers and
high-lying cirrus clouds with low backscatter coefficients. The
low-maintenance sensor is designed to work autonomously in all
meteorological and climatological applications. The CHM 15k ceilometer
is configured and controlled by an intuitive command set. The
measurement data can be individually evaluated with the help of three
different data telegrams.
Additional software modules are available for data recording and
analysis (JO-DataClient) and graphical visualisation of backscatter data
(JO-Visual).
Further meteorological products, like e.g. sensors for visibility, snow
height and water level are under development, but already available for
demonstrations.
