GRAW is a well-established German company developing and manufacturing Upper Air Sounding Systems since 1938.
GRAW's digital GPS Upper Air Sounding system meets all requirements of aerological measuring technology, be it as a routine radiosonde for use by meteorological services, for military applications or as a research radiosonde for scientific purposes.

Some "highlights" of the GRAW radiosonde are:
  • "Online"-ground check, no separate unit necessary
  • Calibration-data stored in EEPROM on the Radiosonde
  • Freely programmable frequency
  • Elimination of transmission faults by code-spreading and interleaving 
  • Code correlated differential GPS with protected antenna for wind finding
  • Free inputs for additional sensors (e.g. ozone)
  • High-power environmental friendly lithium battery The appropriate ground equipment is offered in different version, starting from a low-cost plug-in card system and ending at a highest requirements military version.
All ground station versions are based on 2 plug-in cards and 2 HF-antennas with automatic selection and hence always ensure optimal radio reception. 

Special EMI-filters protect the system against high-power radar signals, lightning or other external influences.
The product-range of GRAW is completed by different versions of Radiosonde dereelers and automatic balloon filling units.
