This was the 3rd session of the Joint CIMO Expert Team (ET) on Upper-Air Systems Intercomparisons and International Organizing Committee (IOC) on Upper-Air Systems Intercomparisons. HMEI was be represented at this meeting by HMEI members who are part of this ET group: Tom Curran from Lockheed Martin Sippican; Rémy Pepin from Modem; Fred Clowney from InterMet;  Hannu Jauhiainen from Vaisala; Florian Scmidmer from Graw; Paul Rupert from Meteolabor and Mr Mr Kensaku Shimizu from Meisei.

The meeting looked at changes in Radiosondes, particularly of those from HMEI members attending this meeting, after the WMO Intercomparison of high quality Radiosonde Systems that was held in Mauritius in 2005 and the procedure for publication of WMO Intercomparison Radiosonde Systems results.

Some of the other items addressed in the meeting were:

• Progress of testing interoperable Upper_Air systems.
• Presentations on recent tests / work on wind profiler systems.
• It was decided to organize the 8th WMO Intercomparison of Radiosonde Systems (WMORSO8) in early 2010, followed by the WMO Regional Intercomparison within two
  years, if required.
• The planned WMO Regional Intercomparison in China in 2009 will be organized at a later stage, if China is not be able to join the WMORSO8.
