- Mr Ngari, Cook Islands was elected
President and Mrs Sri Harjono, Indonesia was elected Vice- President for the next four years.
- WMO now includes “Research
satellite” data in the Global Observing System.
- BMG Indonesia offered to host a
training programme on Regional NWP.
- WMO Secretariat reported on survey
of the impact of discontinuation of the RS80/RS90 radiosondes. Comparison of returns between Jan 2005 and Jan
2006 showed no significant impact.
- Vaisala’s long term strategy was
quoted to be:
Annual price increases less than half OECD price inflator
RS92 lifetime 2013 to 2015
- Satellite interpretation training by
Australian Bureau of Meteorology through Internet 16-27 Oct 2006.
- Stronger link needed between WMO and
IOC.
- Interoperability of upper air
sounding systems - InterMet has two trackers: one high performance & higher price, one for tropics at
lower cost. Initial tests in 2004, further test in 2006-07.
- “Climsoft” recommended as a good
small climate data base for Pacific States. Nine countries already have this installed and Australia and New
Zealand will support.
- The WMO Technical Guideon Automated
versus Manual Surface Meteorological observations should be distributed as soon as possible.
- Regional Instrument Centres in Melbourne and Manila endorsed.
