86th AMS, 9.15am on Tuesday 31st January 2006
in
Room A310,
Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
The announcement of the HMEI General Assembly and an article on HMEI was featured on the front-page of the Monday 30th January BAM, the daily paper of the AMS Exhibition and Conference.

also had a booth at the AMS 86th General Assembly Exhibition. Where the Executive Secretary was in attendance with the latest edition of the HMEI Catalogue on
CD available for visitors and with the HMEI website live on line for visitors to the booth to see.

Naturally
many HMEI Members were exhibiting at AMS-86. HMEI Members constituted 35 of the 109 exhibitors at AMS this year, with other HMEI Members also attending the AMS

REPORT
- CIMO ET on Meteorological Radiation and Atmospheric Composition Measurements, 6-10 February 2006, Davos, Switzerland
The HMEI was represented at this meeting by Mr. Kees
Hoogendijk from Kipp & Zonen, Bruce Sumner and Christine Charstone from the HMEI Secretariat.
Mr. Hoogendijk made some pertinent and useful observations to the
meeting. He has been invited to pass his comments on amendments to Chapter 7 of the CIMO Guide, to Dr Bruce
Forgan, so that they can included in the Chapter's revision.

The EGU General Assembly 2006 aims to bring together geoscientists from all over Europe and the rest of
the world into one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences.

New
director of the World Weather Watch (WWW) in WMO
The former Director of WWW in WMO Dieter Schiessl has retired from his position as of February 2006. Mr Schiessl was much involved with the initial set-up of
HMEI and is well know with the HMEI founding members.
The new Director of WWW is now Mr John L. Hayes, from the USA. Jack Hayes is well know and respected in the meteorological community. HMEI will be interested in
meeting and working with the new Director. Bruce Sumner, the HMEI Executive Secretary, will be arranging to formally meet with Mr Hayes later this in March.
