Chairman
of the WMO Steering Group on Radio-Frequency
Coordination Visits the HMEI Office
HMEI is an invited expert to this Steering Group. The new Chairman, Mr Philippe Tristant, emailed HMEI
requesting a meeting with the HMEI Executive Secretary, Bruce Sumner. As a result, on December 14, Bruce had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Tristant, to the
HMEI office in Geneva.
Mr Tristant is the Programme Manager of the EUMETNET protection of radio frequencies group, in addition to his role as Chairman of the WMO Steering Group on Radio-Frequency Coordination. He is keen to have input from the manufacturers on radio frequency issues with which
our industry is concerned. The Executive Secretary and Mr Tristant discussed how HMEI involvement in the Steering Group would facilitate input from a
manufacturer’s perspective into the radio frequency issues of concern to hydrology, meteorology and satellites. At Mr Tristant's invitation HMEI will be
actively involved in the EUMETNET and WMO initiative regarding protection of relevant radio frequency bands.
