HMEI Office and Executive Secretary
The HMEI has established
its new office in Geneva. The new address is that which is currently noted
on this website. The Office is situated in the WMO building in Geneva. The
location, adjacent to the WMO offices, gives HMEI the opportunity to keep
in touch with international issues of relevance to the HMEI objectives and
its members' interests.
The HMEI also has a new
Executive Secretary, Bruce Sumner, who commenced work June this year and
is working from the Geneva HMEI office.
Bruce is an Australian by birth who is currently living just outside
Geneva in neighboring France. He has a wide Meteorological background,
having worked for many years in the Bureau of Meteorology in Australia, in
both the Perth and Melbourne Met offices. He was the Chief of Data Management
for many years at the Australian Bureau. Bruce has strong links to the WMO,
having served on several WMO teams over a period of more than 10 years.
With meteorological expertise and knowledge of the WMO, Bruce brings to
the Executive Secretary position a wide perspective, that will benefit
the HMEI's aims and objectives. He is available to members
for all enquires about HMEI matters.

New Opportunities
for Members
The
WMO is
currently looking to procure meteorological station equipment for stations
worldwide that have been prioritized as in need of certain minimal
equipment to be fully functional climate stations
within
the GCOS Upper Air Network (GUAN). Please contact the Executive
